Why you should book a corporate event in Suffolk

If you are planning a corporate event day, Suffolk should be on your radar. Located within easy reach of London, and with plenty of space, fresh air and a range of activities available, Suffolk is an excellent choice for companies of any size to engage in team building days, conferences and client entertainment.

Why not consider sailing? At Viking Mariners, we have hosted many team building days on our luxury yachts, helping staff to build skills and relationships while enjoying a unique and exciting day out on the Suffolk riverways. Book a corporate hospitality event or staff away day with us and you’ll see amazing scenery, from picturesque nature reserves bursting with life, to the towering stacks of steel containers at the Port of Felixstowe. You’ll also be treated to some delicious fare to re-energise you after all the excitement has sunk in – think morning pastries and coffee, afternoon cream tea and a cool glass of beer or wine.

We know how stressful it can be when organising a corporate event, which is why we can take care of everything for you with a personal events manager. Just let us know your budget, available dates and what you would like to achieve from your sail – and we’ll figure everything else out for you.

If that hasn’t swayed you, here are a few more reasons why you should book a corporate event in Suffolk:

Easily accessible

Our county benefits from easy access to and from London and the surrounding areas, so if you’re a city-based company looking to spend some time away from the hustle and bustle, Suffolk is the perfect location for you.

Suffolk boasts excellent train links, with trains arriving from London every half hour. At Viking Mariners, we’re just a twenty-minute walk from Ipswich railway station, or a short taxi ride away. You can also travel by car on the A12.

Plenty to do

Suffolk is a large county with lots of different facets. We’re as rural as we are coastal and our towns and villages have plenty to offer in terms of activities.

If you’re looking for adventure, a boat trip is something that you and your team or your clients will never forget. It’s an unexpected take on the corporate event concept, taking your guests out of their day to day routine and bringing them together with a fun and thrilling group activity.

A day on the water is usually followed by a very good sleep! If you don’t feel like heading home, Suffolk has an excellent choice of hotels to suit any clientele – and you don’t need to venture far. The Salthouse is located on Ipswich Waterfront, a very short distance from our headquarters. Rest your head in a stylish room overlooking the marina after a wind-down in the well-appointed bar.

We also recommend Milsoms Kesgrave Hall, a grand boutique hotel situated on the outskirts of Ipswich, or The Pier at Harwich, a historic harbour hotel with two celebrated seafood restaurants.

Excellent weather conditions

Luckily for us sailors, Suffolk is located in one of the driest areas of the country, with little snow in the winter and a considerable amount of sun year round.

With that in mind, this is an ideal location for almost any activity – indoors or outdoors – as good weather, particularly sunshine, will have a positive effect on the mood and morale of your corporate event guests.

If you choose to book a sailing day with us, you’re more likely to see better weather than you would in other parts of the country. This makes the sail even more enjoyable, especially if your main intention is to kick back on deck with a cool drink in your hand!
