We are excited to announce that the Viking Mariners Sea School will be fielding entries in this year’s Round the Island race! This will provide all participants with an opportunity for mileage building from the River Orwell, around the south coast to the race or back with expert tuition along the way plus the option to either spectate or take part in a world famous race.
This race along with the Fastnet is on every sailors bucket list!
What is the Round the Island Race?
Over 1700 boats come from all over the UK, other parts of Europe and as far away as the USA to follow the 50 nautical mile course round the Isle of Wight. Starting on the famous Royal Yacht Squadron line in Cowes, the fleet races west about to The Needles, round St Catherine’s Point and Bembridge Ledge buoy, and back into the Solent to the finish line at Cowes. Crew of all abilities can participate and pit their skills against each other and professional sailors.
It’s also a great social event with boats rafted up all around Cowes which creates a real buzz and provides lots of opportunity to meet old friends or make new ones within the sailing world.
How can I take part?
