City dwellers hit the waves

A big weekend for the Viking Group. A total corporate sailing experience. City dwellers hit the waves for a well- earned adventure on the east coast.

Sunday Time’s Business award-winning company, The Berkeley Partnership, were quick to congratulate Ipswich-based Viking Mariners after a day-long adventure programme on the River Orwell.

The company’s 72- strong team of high flyers, including fourteen partners prepared themselves for a day of adventure with an overnight stay at the Essex based Lifehouse Spa and hotel before embarking on hands-on sailing, rib rides and relaxing on the massive

Even with water temperatures at a record low for May, some hardy souls even braved the conditions to indulge in water skiing and wake boarding.

The Berkeley Partnership spokeswoman Claire Stevens said: “It was a monumental effort by Viking Mariners. Our brief – to include a level balance of excitement and relaxation – was rather ambitious.

“We were delighted with the entire day and we all returned with a very happy bank of memories of our time on the east coast.”

The group, divided into colour-coded teams, boarded their various vessels, which included barges, yachts, ribs, dinghies, catamarans and Campion water ski boats, at Woolverstone Marina for a day unlike any in their normal schedules.

After the morning activities, lunch on the go and a change on anchored vessels, the afternoon schedule commenced with more thrills and fun.

The day came to a finale with prize-giving and presentations on the barge in the glorious sunshine, after what seemed like 40 days and 40 nights of rain.

Lee Weavers, of Viking Mariners said ‘it was a great outcome after several months of planning’. ‘We are always striving to build the local business profile and put the Ipswich waterfront on the map, especially when we are generally competing with the south coast for projects like these’.

Viking Mariners offer sailing experiences for Leisure, corporate and team building as well as RYA Training.
