Day Skipper – combined theory & practical
This combined course is an ideal format to move from Competent Crew to Day skipper in one course. You can experience this very focussed and demanding event with like-minded people who are time poor and often become sailing friends for life.
The first 5 days will be based in the classroom to cover the syllabus for the RYA Day Skipper theory course. You will receive a comprehensive introduction to chart work, navigation, meteorology and the basics of seamanship. This part of the course is non-residential. If you require accommodation, this can be booked on your behalf with local providers with various price points available.
Over the following 5 days, the RYA Day Skipper practical course is residential aboard our Moody 376 where you will and start to put the theory into practice and as part of this transition each trainee will skipper the yacht and towards the end of the course each will take responsibility for a short passage. By the end of the course you should achieve a level of seamanship and boat handling up to the RYA standard required to skipper a small cruising yacht safely by in tidal waters with which you are familiar.
