Exploring the ‘Healthy Hospitality’ Boom

Have you noticed how boozy evenings and lavish trips have gradually been replaced with healthier, more responsible alternatives when it comes to hospitality? We certainly have – and we couldn’t be more interested in the shift!

According to a recent article in The Times, ‘a more austere younger generation’ are now becoming business decision-makers – and it turns out they have a bigger appetite for wholesome entertainment than their older counterparts. So what does this mean for the future of hospitality?

All-action events will become more popular

Team Management (TMSDI)As ‘healthy hospitality’ is on the rise, it’s likely your next business event will be more all-action than all-drinking. But although away days and team building activities may involve a little fresh air and some muscle-power, it doesn’t mean you have to work up a sweat. Here at Viking Mariners, we offer sailing packages for all kinds of corporate events – so whether you want to help out on deck or simply enjoy an afternoon tea on board our luxury vessels – there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Hospitality events stay on the right side of the law

Following the now infamous banking scandals around the time of the recession, the 2010 Bribery Act was put in place to stop lavish entertainment held at the expense of customers. Instead of straying into grey areas as in times gone by, ‘healthy hospitality’ helps to keep business events on the right side of the law. If you want to take a more responsible approach to hospitality, health-conscious events are a great way to go.

Alcohol takes a back seat

Team Management (TMSDI)As younger generations become business leaders and influencers, there’s a lesser emphasis on alcohol and drinking at hospitality events. In fact, a survey by the Office for National Statistics found that less than half of people aged between 16 and 24 years had drunk alcohol in the previous week (compared with 66% of people between the ages of 45 and 64). As a result, alcoholic drinks are likely to take a back-seat at business events and team building activities – but that’s not to say you have to miss out entirely. On our luxury sails, you’ll be served a glass of wine of beer on the return back to dry land.

Hospitality events will be unique and memorable

Not only are healthy hospitality events good for you, but they’re truly memorable and unique as well. If you want to organise a corporate day out, client entertainment or team building session with a difference, make sure you choose one of our business sailing packages. It’s wholesome, fun, and totally unforgettable!
