An East Coast sailing experience, followed by an over night stay at the Salthouse Hotel on the Ipswich Waterfront. This made the perfect start to a birthday weekend for David Morgan. The time seemed to shoot past as the team were taken on a mini training trip. There was no sitting around, all hands on deck. There was time to enjoy the sea air.

Jane Morgan responsible for the ‘Birthday Suffolk Sailing Day Treat’ also enjoyed her half day sailing experience. Fun was had by all, it was not just a sit and look, but you could if you wanted, teamwork was key, all took turns in control of this 52′ beauty it value new is in the region of £370,000. A floating house really.

You were in save hands with the training from Beverley and Lee. Ropes, ropes and more ropes. This was the order of the day. It’s a great way to build relationships and team spirit.

And what a nice way to have an afternoon workout…

Or even just play captain for the day, take control and sail.

Also dressedondeck.com provided the new range of Gill sailing Jackets just arrived for all to model. They cetainly added some colour. A GREAT AFTERNOON OUT HAD BY ALL.

Daryl and I joined you, Lee and a German family for a trip on the
Catamaran you charter. We had aspirations of heading to the Caribbean
and buying our own boat and we are glad to report that we are now the
proud owners of a Beneteau First 38!

We are currently anchored in St Martin and are hoping to start cruising
in three weeks.

Our room had a magnificent view overlooking the harbour. My favourite feature was the giant copper bath situated in the middle, accompanied by oils, and soaps. I remember thinking to myself at the time: “If this doesn’t chill-me-out then nothing will”.

In combination with our hotel stay, I had also arranged a surprise sailing trip with Viking Mariners, based next to the Salthouse. As I had never been sailing before I thought it would be a really enjoyable and relaxing experience for the both of us. Upon boarding the catamaran boat, called Alchemy, I realised that all thoughts about work had entirely cleared away. Our skipper Lee was very friendly and reassuring and after setting sail, I could not believe how peaceful the Suffolk scenery really was, and to top it all, I was even allowed to sail the boat myself.

After around three hours of cruising down the River Orwell, enjoying a glass of wine and lots of delicious treats along the way, I recognised my mission to unwind had been an overwhelming success, hence me not having one single thought concerning my business.

After enjoying my experience so much I was delighted to find out that they also offer corporate days out, birthday parties plus one I am particularly interested in, “a spa day on the river”.

In writing this article I am not suggesting that taking a simple sailing trip down the River Orwell on a Saturday afternoon is the ultimate cure for “burnout”.

However, what I did discover is that, just by getting away from it all, even just for a short period of time over the weekend, can seriously improve your health.
